Dibujando las líneas de un territorio. Un caso cercano: El Camp de Tarragona

Abstract

[EN] The existence of borders comes into question when one realizes that they only exist in the collective imagination. This imagination differentiates political impositions and inherent, natural features, thereby allowing the study of the latter in the Camp de Tarragona as a case study. Through the analysis of historical cartography and the drawing of geographical descriptions and orographic morphologies, a sequence of lines has been sketched to represent the territory. These lines indicate that territorial boundaries are not precise definitions but rather broad and abstract concepts, directly influencing the territorial function and, consequently, the ways of inhabiting it.

[ES] La presencia de fronteras se cuestiona al comprender que estas únicamente existen en el imaginario colectivo. Un imaginario que distingue entre las imposiciones políticas y las características inherentes y naturales, permitiendo así estudiar estas últimas en el Camp de Tarragona como caso de estudio. A través del estudio de cartografías históricas y el dibujo de descripciones geográficas y morfologías orográficas, se traza una red de líneas que intentan representar el territorio y, a su vez, señalan que los límites territoriales no son definiciones precisas, sino más bien conceptos amplios y abstractos, que influyen directamente en el funcionamiento territorial y, por lo tanto, en las formas de habitarlo.
